Welcome to the Coyotes Curling Club — Arizona’s only dedicated curling facility! Whether you’re new to curling or just curious, here’s everything you need to know before stepping on the ice.
👕 What to Wear & Bring
You don’t need special equipment — we provide everything!
- Wear: Warm, flexible clothes (around 40°F on ice), long pants (no jeans), light jacket, gloves optional.
- Bring: Clean sneakers, water bottle, and a great attitude!
🧊 Safety & Rules Basics
- Step carefully — no running or jumping on the ice.
- Use a gripper foot when walking; only slide when instructed.
- Keep stones on the ice and brooms down when not sweeping.
- No food or drinks on the playing surface.
🥌 What a First Session Looks Like
- Welcome & Orientation (10-20 min): Meet our USCA certified coach’s and get fitted with equipment.
- On-Ice Introduction (15-30 min): Learn balance, delivery, sweeping, and safety basics.
- Game Time (45-60 min): Play a couple ends with help from instructors.
- Wrap-Up: Relax in the warm room or at the Broken Broom Lounge and celebrate your first game!
📖 Curling Terms You’ll Hear
- House: The target circles on the ice.
- End: A round of play (like an inning).
- Hammer: The final stone advantage.
- Skip: The team captain who directs play.
- Sweeping: Brushing the ice to control speed and curl.
- Bonspiel: A curling tournament!

- Arrive 15 minutes early to sign in and change shoes.
